How We Review Language Learning Apps

By the WanderMundo Editorial Team · Updated October 29, 2026

WanderMundo is an AI language learning app where you practice speaking with an AI tutor. We also publish guides that compare language learning apps. This page explains who writes those guides, how we rank apps, how we check facts and how to tell us when something is wrong.

Who writes our app guides?

Our guides are written and updated by the WanderMundo Editorial Team, the people who build WanderMundo. Every list page carries this byline and the date it was last checked, so you always know who is speaking and how fresh the facts are.

Our disclosure: we make one of the apps

We make WanderMundo, and every list page says so in a one-line disclosure under the title. We rank WanderMundo first only where it fits, which is speaking practice, because that is what it is built for. For every other goal, such as a free daily habit, a structured course, audio for a commute or a live tutor, we point to the app that fits better, even when that is a competitor.

We also list WanderMundo's own weak spots in its entry, such as having no App Store or Google Play app yet, so you can judge it fairly.

What criteria do we use?

We rank each app on six criteria:

  • How much you actually speak: whether you produce the language out loud or in writing, rather than mostly tapping and reading.
  • Feedback quality: whether mistakes are corrected and the reason is explained in a way a learner can use.
  • Structure: whether there is a clear path from one lesson to the next, so you know what to do each day.
  • Listening: whether there is real audio at a level you can follow.
  • Free option: whether you can try the app properly before paying, and what is really free.
  • Fit for adult beginners: whether a busy adult can start from zero and keep going.

Each app also gets a "Best for" label, three pros and two cons, written neutrally and based only on checked facts.

How do we check facts?

Every fact about another company is checked on that company's own website, and each page shows the check date (for our current list pages, October 29, 2026). We do not use rumors, forum posts or other review sites as the source for an app's features.

We never state other companies' prices, because they change often and differ by country. Instead each entry says "Check current pricing on their site." When a detail, such as the platforms an app runs on, was not part of what we verified, our tables say "See their site" rather than guess.

We do not publish user counts, ratings or reviews we cannot verify, for our own app or anyone else's.

How often are pages updated?

We review our list pages every month and update them sooner when a company changes its features or plans. The "Updated" date at the top of each page shows the last time its facts were checked.

Do companies pay to be listed?

No. There are no paid placements, sponsored rankings or affiliate deals in our app lists. No company can pay to be included or to rank higher.
